I Can Teach My Child: Sorting and Threading Foam Beads Activity for Toddlers
I purchased 3 pool noodles and 3 colors of paracord, trying to match the colors of noodle to cord from the Dollar Tree. (Here is a link to have pool noodles and paracord sent right to your door Pool Noodles* Paracord*). After getting the supplies home, I used a serrated bread knife to cut the pool noodles into 1.5-2 inch beads. I found 2 inches was better than smaller.
After cutting the cord into shorter length but still a couple yards long the bead stringing can begin. We found it was easier to tie one end of the rope to something to keep it stationary and so beads didn't come off the other end.
This works with fine motor skills and colors. As your child progresses, you can work on patterns and counting.
