Recycle Old, Dry Markers

In an effort to use our old dry markers we made water colors with them. We put the old markers in disposable cups upside down. Then fill the cups with water, not covering the markers. You will want to combine same colors in the cup. The more markers in the cup the deeper the color. Let the markers sit in water for 3 or more hours. The longer they soak, the deeper the water will be also. After the markers have sat you can use the colored water to paint watercolors. We put the colored water in spray bottles and squeeze bottles to make painting more interesting instead of just using brushes.

Tip: You can do this with the same markers multiple times, each time may need to soak longer, but they will make watercolors multiple times. (I also used old highlighters, didn't notice staining, but I washed clothes and towels right after we were finished.)
